Rebuilding a House
If you are thinking about taking on a rebuilding project to raise the value of your home, you will need to know the building and flood codes that relate to it. You may need multiple permits for different types of remodels. Know before you go so you do not throw money down the drain.

Do I need Permits for a New Home?
Permits and drawings should be accounted for in your budget, and it will also affect your timeline. You should include time and costs for planning and permits before you build, even if your project is only a minor renovation or addition. Some people might think that obtaining all of these permits and following the rules is not necessary, but you could find yourself doubled fees if you are caught building without a permit or worse, run into huge losses when you attempt to sell your home because of work done that was not permitted. We have seen the trouble it causes for both the seller and the buyer. So, do the right thing and ensure you plan and permit the changes to your home.

  • I have worked with ArcDesign on two home renovation projects; ranging from a master bathroom/closet addition to an extensive major home remodel. They have been wonderful to work with! Everyone in their office is professional, easy to communicate with, and architecturally talented! They are always quick to respond to any questions or requests, and truly care about bringing our vision to life exactly as we want it. Ben meticulously designed our dream home. His attention to detail and our desires really showed during the entire process. We highly recommend them!

  • I was very impressed with Arc Design. Randy worked with me till we got everything that I wanted in the plan for my mother-in-law apartment. He was very patient and listened to everything that I said and all of my ideas and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. He had great ideas that I didn't think of and I am looking forward to the build. I highly recommend this firm.

What To Know Before Rebuilding Your Home

From rebuilding your home to renovations, here are the most common building permissions, restrictions, covenants, and laws you should know about.

In residential construction, it's important for homeowners to understand the basic rules, regulations, and restrictions. Whether you're planning to do the work yourself or hire professionals, failing to obtain the right permits and approvals can make or break a remodeling or a rebuilding project. It could stop work completely in its tracks or delay it. And that means lost time and money.

Whether you're renovating an existing home or rebuilding a new house on the same lot, here are some terms you should know.

If you hire pros for construction work and rebuilding, be sure they are licensed and insured and that they obtain the proper permits. Along with putting your family's and neighbors' safety at risk, doing work without the necessary permits could result in being subject to stop-work orders, fines, or penalties. And if an accident happens on site, not having an insured contractor or the proper building permits could open you up to a massive lawsuit and even negligent criminal charges.
